Who doesn't enjoy warm comfort food? Better than McDonald's or even the best chili is the Polish take on fried cabbage. This dish is made across many diverse nationalities but, I love the Polish recipe for fried cabbage. Wanna try? Here's the complete recipe!
1/2 lb. of Cabbage
*1 package of thick sliced bacon
1 lb. of Polish sausage
1 med or large bell pepper (roughly chopped)
1 med or large onion (roughly chopped)
1 tablespoon of ground pepper
1tsp of salt
2-3 cloves of garlic (minced)
*2 tablespoons of butter
*optional
Begin by warming a very large pot or cast iron skillet
(medium high heat)
Take bacon and place in heated pot-continue to stir, do not fry until crispy just until cooked
once bacon is complete-keep fat from bacon in pot-remove bacon-
place aside
place sausage in pot-cook in rendered bacon fat-stir-
once sausage begins to cook-stir in chopped onions-stir-
then add in garlic and green peppers-stir-until peppers sweat/soften-add in seasonings-stir-and then add in 1/3rd of chopped cabbage-stir-place top on pot-once cooked down add in remaining cabbage-stir-and place top back on pot for 10 min-stir-until all cabbage has cooked down-check by tasting....
Voila!
